The Institute of Biophysics (IBF) is a joint research centre of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). In collaboration with Fundación Biofísica Bizkaia (FBB), the centre advances knowledge of the physical and chemical processes underlying biology and disease. With FBB accredited as a Basque Excellence Research Centre (BERC) by the Basque Government, the IBF–FBB partnership enjoys a strong national and international reputation and provides outstanding shared facilities for advanced biophysical and structural biology research in a new building on the main UPV/EHU Leioa campus.

 

Position and Project Description

We are offering an International Project Officer position at IBF (Leioa), under the supervision of the Head of the International Office.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Project support: pre- and post-award assistance for scientific funding applications, mapping, application and achievement of European and international scientific projects, development of expertise in these types of projects, and technical and administrative support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Networks and alliances: support in benchmarking and engagement with international stakeholders to generate consortia, collaborations, and agreements with other centres.
  • Reputation and intangibles: assistance with international forums, centre positioning, visibility, and engagement with relevant actors.

Required Background and Qualification

  • University degree, preferably in biological sciences, business administration, or related fields.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in similar roles, preferably in scientific or technological environments
  • Experience in consultancy as a project manager for international consortia and networks is valued.
  • Knowledge of international funding (preferably science-related) and scientific project management.
  • High level of English; knowledge of Basque and other languages is valued.
  • Strong organizational, management, and planning skills.

 

Conditions

Immediate incorporation, temporary contract until December 2028 with possibility of continuation, and remuneration adapted to the level and characteristics of the position.
