Researcher Ignacio Arganda-Carreras has received the Data Analysis in Imaging (DAIM) Award in recognition of his contributions to biomedical image analysis.
His work combines artificial intelligence, machine learning and bioimaging. He is also a co-founder and long-standing contributor to Fiji, the open-source image-processing platform used internationally by the scientific community.
Arganda-Carreras has developed advanced computational tools while promoting open science and reproducible research. His publications have accumulated tens of thousands of citations, reflecting the broad impact of this work.
He is an Ikerbasque Research Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at EHU and collaborates with the Biofisika Institute and the Donostia International Physics Center.
The award recognises both his scientific excellence and his influence on the way researchers analyse and interpret biological images.
